” [Charleston, S.C.] Entering 2020, Commercial USA member Flooring Services LLC (FSL) was set up for another very successful year. Despite uncertainty at the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic, construction was deemed an essential business in all of the company’s primary markets and business moved forward with little interruption.
According to Jim Jacobs CFO and general manager, “We experienced some minor delays in the awarding of contracts and a few lulls in bidding but overall the construction market remained robust.” Jacobs also added that it was not completely business as usual as the company had to adapt with additional safety precautions such as holding daily meetings outside, increased cleaning and sanitizing measures and supplying all company vehicles with masks, sanitizers and wipes.
Flooring Services LLC was acquired by the Schwartz family in 2018 and has continued building on the prior success of the company. Retention of staff, including 2 of the prior owners has been one key to the successful transition as well as adding members to the estimating and project management teams, the company said. Another focus has been on upgrading its social media presence, a revamped website and additional sales and marketing team members. Other contributors to its growth include having its own fleet of trucks, a project manager assigned to and regularly visiting every job and very experienced installation crews. FSL said it will continue to focus on the Multi Family, Hospitality and Office upfit sectors on the commercial side of its business while also having a strong presence in the residential custom home builder segment through its design center.
Since its inception, FSL has focused on the Carolinas as its primary market. Beginning in 2020 it is growing that footprint into Virginia, Tennessee, Georgia and Alabama with plans to eventually expand its product offering as well. The company said it looks forward to continuing its outstanding partnership with Commercial USA and its financial, marketing and networking opportunities including the upcoming 2021 national convention. ”
